Who we are:
The Grumpy Old Farts is an alliance guild on Khaz'Goroth (Oceanic) server created especially for parents, casual players and cool people. We think that:- It’s ok to AFK from a raid because the baby got up for her 1 AM bottle.
- It’s possible to to be drunk, funny and raid, without being rude or an ass.
- That you can ask questions without being called a n00b, scoffed, or ignored.
Some of our general rules:
Social:- Ingame and Vent chat (including non-grumpy) is to be kept respectable to others, and not lowering to the common demoniator.
- Drama, trolling, insulting or being a jerk will get you booted out. We’re all looking for a good time and we’ll make sure to get rid of those preventing that. We will not hold your hand and give you 10 chances. This excludes toro initiation and other light heartedness, there's a difference between being an aussie, and being a bastard.
Raiding:- Raids are never mandatory and you are not required to participate to any of them. If you do sign up, we will expect you to show up on time but we understand that it might not work. Please send an in-game mail to the raid Leader (listed on raid sign up) if you know in advance you can’t make it. If you’re not online when the raid starts, you will simply be replaced. No fuss, no cry.
- Connectivity stability. If you are constantly disconnecting and think its not going to stop, don't keep raiding and delaying raid, tell someone to replace you if it happens again. (of course sometimes there's no one else, so your welcome to stay and keep trying till then as long as your happy knowing you may miss the loot when your offline!)
- Respect the fact everyone else is relying on you to do you job smoothly, if you have a weak point in your ability/gear, alert that your "not quite ready". You are probably still welcome to the raid, unless there's to many "not quite ready" in the raid makeup. If you don't know why your not quite ready, there's a officer of each class skilled in improving each classes ability, your welcome to ask for advice, tips
- Loot is mainspec based, no preferential treatment.
- Mainspec does not include upgrades for you that are from a lower material rank eg. cloth for leather, leather for mail, mail for plate) if the lower wearing people need it also.
- Mainspec also does not mean upgrades for a different role "but still upgradable" for you, eg. a +hit item and your a healer, or +defence and your a DPS.
- Mainspec also takes in consideration of class nuances
- Shamans love slow one handers
- warriors/dks use ArP, paladins do not.
- ranged with dps/stat upgrades go to hunters first, melee of the same, goes to melee first.
- most melee has there prefered item, rogues daggers, shammies maces. etc.
- Be Understanding, generally with some communication the item will be yours/or not yours at your request once asked about relevancy to you.
- Just remember that the other raiders are your guildies and will also be returning to kick ass with you. increase in a guildies gear is just as good as increasing your own! Helps you get that "dream" item your aiming for, instead of taking items that are only halfway there for you, but are perfect for someone else.
Banking:- Our guild bank currently has four tabs that are open to everyone to take stuff from.
- If you want to make a withdraw: It must be something you will use right now. Don’t take stuff out of the lowbie tabs to save for later.
- If you want to make a deposit: Think before you do. If you’re going to put equipment in there, make sure it’s something someone will use. If you’re going to put mats in there, make sure it’s a stack (for most items, it’s 20).
- Good: WotLK (71+) rares/epics, WotLK Buff Food, WotLK bags, WotLK plans/patterns/schematics/formula, WotLK mats, WotLK pots, WotLK elixir, WotLK flasks, WotLK etc.
- Marginal: WotLK (71+) Greens - will be DE'ed for ench mats, utility potions (swim speed, tracking, stealth det. etc.)
- Bad: Most things not WotLK.
- Anybody taking stuff from the bank and putting it up on the auction house without previous authorization from the guild leader and/or officer will be booted, no question asked.
- Items in tab 5 & 6 are generally of a higher value and thus are controlled by the officers, mainly to prevent theft. Everybody is welcome to request items (an officer can help you), but you must have a valid need for the item. e.g Requesting enchanting mats to level your enchanting skill isn't a valid use of guild mats. But requesting abyss crystals to enchant your new tier chest piece is. Keep in mind too that the higher in value an item is, the more reluctant an officer might be to hand it out freely.
We reserve the right to take out of the bank and vendor/disenchant anything that we don’t feel is useful to the guild.
- We ask that everyone log in at least once a month. Players who haven’t been seen in over a month get demoted to protect the guild from theft.
